Phillipwray Racing & Collectable Classics website disected
Latest from JP2 Designs is Phillipwray Racing which is an ecommerce site that deals in all racing and collectable cars, products, spare parts and even available racing jobs. This is based on the very popular WordPress which allows the owner to update and maintain it himself.
In creating this website, it did bring up some problems that was not always a pleasure to deal with. The biggest hurdle was getting the three columns working together and staying the same length. I ended up having to use various inner and outer divs after having to scrap various previous ideas.
I tried using several ‘e-commerce’ plug ins but they did not met my needs to I ended up using other plugins and modifying them to met what was required.
- iGallery plug in - Only time the owner will have to do anything not using WP. It was the best gallery plug I could find.
- Thumbnail Viewer - Used this instead of iGallery (above), read hear for reason why.
- Buy me a Beer - On certain pages you can click on a button which takes you to paypal and allows you to pay via paypal.
- cforms - Best tool for WP contact forms, which allows you to set up numerous forms and also responses to forms.
- the_excerpt Reloaded - Allows the image to be shown on the products pages (example).
- randomimage - One of my favourite plugins which allows recent and exclusive products to be displayed.

cool list of tools. Although instead of using the post_excerpt, he could directly use images inside the post as I described in the post of things you should know when using post excerpt. But nice indeed, since perhaps you wanted to make the learning curve as low as possible for the client.
