Dubai-based artist Randa Haddadin beautifies her skin with expressive illustrations. She uses a mixture of paint and pens to render colorful bouquets, delicate portraits and intricate architecture on her thighs.
The medium’s transience gives Haddadin the freedom to experiment in his drawings. While some of his body art looks like vivid paintings, others exhibit a looser quality, as if unfinished. Additionally, she often merges calligraphy, drawing, and painting to create a completely unique piece.
“My work is my visual diary,” Haddadin writes of her website. “A therapeutic journey of constant self-rediscovery, strongly inspired by my inner demons and dreams, at other times inspired by cities and urban contexts, people and fashion.” After creating a spontaneous design on her skin, she can wash it off and reuse the same canvas: her body. “Throughout the process of creating my artwork,” she continues, “sometimes I try to heal or grieve or just celebrate a moment or an experience in which all of the components of the work of art matter, from the textures of the surfaces I draw from the materials I draw with, best known for my ink, coffee and skin art.
Haddadin has collaborated with major brands such as Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Armani, and she has been featured in reputable publications such as vogue.
