Inspired by the great masters of landscape painting, Erik Koeppel take to the great outdoors to capture the surrounding nature outside. From fall forests to majestic mountain scenes in Jackson, New Hampshire, each colorful painting celebrates the beauty of our planet.
“I sought to discover this higher knowledge of beauty, poetic and philosophical, which has been the common thread between all the great masters of art”, reveals Koeppel in a artist statement. “I have spent hours looking at the finest masterpieces in museums around the world in an effort to decipher that meditative effect that distinguishes greatness from skill, and I made creating that feeling my central goal as an artist. “
Koeppel’s hard work and attention to detail certainly paid off. Each of her paintings shows her ability to capture light and how she interacts with trees, lakes and rocks. His works transport the viewer to another world, as if one could almost enter the canvas and go on an adventure winding through the brushstrokes. “I am convinced that experiencing the beauty of our existence here in this magnificent landscape is the only path to happiness,” he says. “My intention as an artist is to share this beauty. “
