James Preston raises money for the Macmillan Cancer Trust, in memory of a teenage roadie who died of the disease, through the sale of 20 of his paintings.

James Preston hopes to raise thousands of pounds for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity when 20 of his works of art go under the hammer in the online auction today (Wednesday, January 12).

Artist Duffield’s paintings have been exhibited in private collections around the world, including Tokyo, Zurich, Italy and Spain,

Faye Dodsley, Art Appraiser at Hansons Auctioneers, said: “As a creative soul, James played lead guitar in various rock bands for many years, both professionally and just for fun. One of his roadies died many years ago from this devastating disease at a very young age, James has never forgotten and like many others wanted to support this important charity.

James Preston’s Swarkestone Reservoir is expected to fetch between £40 and £100 at auction.

“He is delighted to offer these selected works of art for others to enjoy, knowing that all proceeds will help a particularly good cause. Together the paintings could sell for around £3,500.

“Her work is inspired by Derbyshire, but the oil paintings on offer also include coastal scenes, a lazy river, water lilies, a woodland scene with a squirrel and a Christmas cake.

“With estimates ranging from as little as £40-100, people can potentially buy an original work of art at a very affordable price – and support cancer research.”
