BEACHWOOD, Ohio – A strangely evocative oil painting by Japanese-American artist Kikuo Saito (1939-2016) and two colorful and vibrant exterior renderings by Constantin Kluge (French, 1912-2003) are just a few of the Headliners expected in Neue Auctions’ Online-only art and antiques auction scheduled for Saturday, October 30, starting at 10 a.m. EST.

The Saito painting, titled Summer ghost (1997) is impressive at 50 inches by 57 ¾ inches (sight, less frame), and is signed, titled and dated on the reverse. Saito was an abstract painter linked to the Color Field movement and lyrical abstraction. His work infuses landscapes of richly saturated colors with delicately drawn lines. The painting auctioned is a good example (estimate: $ 7,000 – $ 10,000).

Kluge oils include a Parisian cityscape titled Place de la Madeleine, signed and 40 inches by 46 inches, as framed (estimate: $ 5,000 – $ 8,000); and the well titled Village on a river, signed lower right and with a canvas size of 28 ½ inches by 36 inches (estimate: $ 2,000 – $ 4,000). Kluge, originally from Russia, was known for his French landscapes and romantic scenes of the city of Paris.

The auction contains 334 lots of works of art, antiques, jewelry, rugs, furniture and decorative arts. “This auction offers a wide variety of works of art and antiques, all at attractive prices,” said Cynthia Maciejewski of Neue Auctions. “There has never been so much art available on the market today, so now is a good time to buy. “

Two colorful and vibrant exterior renderings by Constantin Kluge (French, 1912-2003) will include this Parisian cityscape titled Place de la Madeleine, signed (estimate: $ 5,000 – $ 8,000).

The sale will include a fine collection of American birdseye and curly maple furniture, including a pretty 19th century flamed maple dining table with an intricately figured rectangular top and two single-plank flaps (estimate; $ 1,500 to 2 $ 500); and a 19th century quilted maple chest of drawers with original cut glass and brass handles (estimate: $ 600 to $ 1,200).

Conover was educated at the Cleveland Institute of Art.

The sterling silver category will be led by a large monteith Tiffany & Company, circa 1966, oval shaped with a raised scallop edge on baroque style scroll legs, weighing 109.375 oz.
