NASHVILLE-based artist Aimee Smith has unveiled the first in a series of oil paintings capturing the natural beauty of the famous links at Royal Dornoch Golf Club.
She settled on the legendary 14th hole of the championship course – known as “Foxy” – for the first of her landscapes, which will go on sale as an original and in a limited edition.
Besides a painting of the iconic 18th in St Andrews, this is Aimee’s first venture beyond the United States, where her portfolio includes Pebble Beach and Spanish Bay.
“Everyone I’ve met who knows Royal Dornoch or has had the chance to play there is thrilled with it,” said Aimee, whose husband Steve is from Edinburgh.
“They go back to their memories and you see their eyes light up. It is a very special place.
“From an artist’s point of view, history, landscape, water, light and shadows all come into play.
“Like so many people, we are looking forward to returning to Scotland this summer after the troubles of the past two years.
“I hope the trip will coincide with the full bloom of the Royal Dornoch gorse.”
